Institut CourtoisThe Institut Courtois was created at the Université de Montréal in 2022 by an historic gift of $159M from the Foundation Courtois to accelerate the discovery of new materials. The donation is the largest ever made in Canada for academic research in the physical sciences. The gift will allow expansion of the Complexe des sciences on Campus MIL and help fund a world-class center in which specialists in chemistry, physics, computation, robotics, artificial intelligence, and other areas will work together to lead materials science in productive new directions. Jim Wuest is a member of the institute and serves on its Scientific Advisory Board. The Wuest Group is an active participant, and its efforts to engineer crystalline solids and molecular materials are well aligned with priorities of the institute.
